To help youth and families oenvironment that enhances social and wellness skills, increase academic achievement, and encourage community involvement.

What is the Before and Afterschool Program?

Parents need a safe place for their children while at work, and students need more time to socialize, get exercise, and participate in enrichment activities. The Before and Afterschool Program fills this need each school day by providing fun, safe and educationally supportive opportunities for K-6th graders. As a program of the Harrisville School District, students from Wells Memorial, Marlborough School, Nelson School and Dublin School have come together with staff and volunteers since 2005 to "Get Active, Get Creative, Try New Things and Make a Difference!"

Staff members work closely with classroom teachers to:

• reinforce academic concepts
• maintain consistent expectations
• monitor social growth
• promote healthy choices
• promote leadership opportunities
• increase exposure to natural world
